Many caregivers cannot leave home due to caregiving responsibilities. You can participate in a web-based seminar — or webinar — from the privacy of your home. Join either live or view the archived version within a few day of the live webinar (in most cases). “Understanding Symptoms of Alzheimer’s”

Program: Nearly 60% of caregivers for someone living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias rate the emotional stress of caregiving as high or very high. This is a practical webinar on how to care for someone with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. The emphasis will be on the care and dignity of the individual to help him or her live a more fulfilling life. It will also provide a person-centered care approach to successfully manage symptoms and positively engage the individual with the disease.

“There is Power in Your Purpose: Caregivers can get what they want and need”

Program: Do you ever feel your voice isn’t being heard as a family caregiver? Do you think that the health care system doesn’t fully acknowledge your health care experience as you support a family member or friend? Advocacy is the power to put your thoughts, needs and wishes into action. When a caregiver needs to advocate, they can improve the health and welfare for themselves and for the person in their care. This is part 1 of a 3-part series and will introduce the basics of becoming an effective advocate. You will be given instructions on how to access an additional Live Chat session.

“Taming Your Anger Monster”

Program: Anger is a normal and predictable response to circumstances over which we have little or no control. As a caregiver, it is likely that you encounter countless situations every day over which you have little or no control. Our presenter will address some of the reasons caregivers get angry, including the “3-Fs of Flipping Out” (Fatigue, Fear, and Frustration) and will introduce you to a three-step process that will help you develop an “Attitude of Creative Indifference” toward the people, situations and events that are the most upsetting to you.
