January 2021 Caregiving Webinars

January 5, 2021 By Parkinson's Community Help

Every month, Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach produces a list of caregiving-related webinars and virtual events (conferences, symposia, and teleconferences). Here’s our January 2021 list of caregiving webinars and virtual events.  Most of the webinars listed are for a general audience and are free.  Be sure to register in advance!

Happy New Year!!!

It seems organizations offering webinars are not yet up to speed.  I only found five to share this month and only two are specific to Parkinson’s caregiving.

The list below is webinars and virtual events (such as a conference, symposium or teleconference) we know about in January 2021 that are focused on Caregiving.  Note: the first webinar is on January 5th!
We encourage you to register for any of these events you are interested in.  That way, if you aren’t able to attend the live event, you will be alerted when the recording is available.

About the list below, unless indicated, all webinars and virtual events are:

Times listed as PT.  (We are based in California, after all.)

One-hour in duration.  (Commonly the speaker talks for 30-40 minutes and there’s a question-and-answer session for the remaining time.)

If there is no speaker indicated, the speaker is unknown at the time of this email. For a general audience.

Not focused on a single medication.  (Those are excluded.)

Free.

Up Close and Personal: Poetry & Prose with PD

Description:

The experience of living with Parkinson’s or a related movement disorder whether directly as the diagnosed person, or as someone who loves and cares for someone with the diagnosis can be a very deep, existential experience that is not always easily articulated. Complex diseases like this can cause very complex emotions and those feelings are frequently left tucked away in deep corners of the soul where they can be safely controlled. But are they really? There can be power in release through prose.

In the first Therapy Break of 2021, Robert Silver and Catherine Strisik, both authors who share very different styles, yet very personal, raw and real perspectives on living with Parkinson’s and the power of bibliotherapy as a tool to explore those experiences.
