Throughout Black History Month (February), there will be a special Black PD Summit.  This four-part virtual program begins on Saturday, Feb 10, and runs from 9am to noon PT.  This first session is on “Building Community Networking – Come Leave a Legacy as We Create a Historic Black Faces of Parkinson’s Disease Quilt.”  (Including your own face on the quilt is optional.)  Registration is not required; just join at the start-time.

This summit is meant to build and strengthen the Black PD community, bring under-engaged voices to the healthcare conversation, share culturally sensitive PD resources, and much more. The Summit is hosted by the Special Interest Group – Black Diaspora.

Sessions take place Feb 10, Feb 16, Feb 25, and March 2.

The schedule is:

Session #1 – Saturday, February 10, 2024
“Building Community Networking – Come Leave a Legacy as We Create a
Historic Black Faces of Parkinson’s Disease Quilt” (your inclusion is optional)
9am – noon PST

Session #2 – Friday, February 16, 2024
“Black PD Townhall – Join the Forums; Your Voice Matters”

Session #3 – Sunday, February 25, 2024
“Uplifting Black Excellence – Meet Black Healthcare Professionals”
1pm – 4pm PST

Session #4 – Saturday, March 2, 2024
“Brain Health & Parkinson’s Disease Resources Expo”
9am – noon PST

See the summit flyer.

Based on the fact that the flyer shows meeting times in Europe and Africa, we assume that this is a worldwide summit.

Black Diaspora members of the following groups are welcome to attend – People with Parkinson’s Disease or Parkinsonian Diseases Patients, Care Partners, Neurologist, Movement Disorder Specialist, Parkinson’s Disease Researchers, Physicians Caring for PD Patients, Healthcare Professionals servicing the PD Community, Social Workers assisting People with Parkinsonian Conditions, Patient Coordinators and Research Technicians, Nurse Practitioners, Advance Practice Providers, and Fitness Trainers working with the PD Community.

Questions? Please contact Special Interest Group – Black Diaspora.
