If you’re unfamiliar with freezing of gait (FOG), it is a phenomenon associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD) where a person temporarily feels as if their feet are stuck, making it difficult or impossible to initiate or continue walking. FOG is common for people with PD and can significantly affect the quality of life, increasing the risk of falls and injuries, and leading to greater dependency on others for mobility and daily activities. It can also cause anxiety and reduced confidence in walking abilities.
On the next episode of APDA’s popular series, Let’s Keep Moving With APDA experts will provide guidance for navigating the complexities of gait freezing with confidence and resilience, teaching tailored exercises, environmental modifications, assistive devices, and effective strategies to regain mobility and independence.
