
Stanford Movement disorder specialist and palliative care physician Jocelyn Jiao, MD, will speak to the Willow Glen Parkinson’s Support Group on Friday, March 7, at 10am. Dr. Jiao will provide an overview of palliative care and how it can help with Parkinson’s symptom management.
Dr Jiao will share her work in palliative care for people with Parkinson’s. She will explain what palliative care is, how palliative care is different from hospice, how palliative care can benefit people with PD, and when someone with PD should enroll in palliative care.
The Willow Glen Parkinson’s Support Group meets on the first Friday monthly from 10-11:30am in the community center of St. Francis Episcopal Church, 1205 Pine Street, San Jose. Group co-leaders Dave Lambert and Pat Flanigan arrange for speakers at most meetings.

About the Speaker
Jocelyn Jiao, MD, is a dual-appointed movement disorders specialist and palliative care specialist at Stanford. She grew up in the Bay Area in California, and obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford. She then moved to New York City, where she completed a Masters of Science in Narrative Medicine at Columbia and received her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Jocelyn completed her neurology residency at the University of Southern California, movement disorders fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University, and hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. At Stanford, her clinical and academic focus has been developing the neuropalliative program for people and families living with serious neurological disease.
