Parkinson’s Support Group of Sonoma County (PSGSC) is hosting a live performance of the play, “What I Didn’t Say: A Journey Through Parkinson’s” on Sunday, April 13 from 3-4:30pm at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center.
This play is profound. I highly recommend it! Every time I see it, I get more out of it. I saw “What I Didn’t Say” in November 2023 when playwright Matthew Moore was a guest on Sunday Mornings with Twitchy Woman. Matthew was good enough to make a recording of the play available for a short time afterward, which gave me the opportunity to recommend the play to my Parkinson’s caregiver support group. More than one group member told me that watching this play finally got their husband to discuss his feelings about having PD.
This quote about “What I Didn’t Say” from Samantha Elandary, CEO of the Parkinson Voice Project, says it all. “The play is AMAZING! It brings to light the tough, real concerns and feelings about PD that are often kept quietly inside.”
PD is often associated with tremors and stiffness, but its emotional impact is just as profound. Diagnosed with PD in 2019, artist, activist, and playwright Matthew Moore created this performance to share the unspoken thoughts and emotions of those living with the disease. Moore’s play is based on real interviews with individuals affected by PD—patients, caregivers, and medical professionals—woven into a poignant narrative that blends humor with heartbreak, despair with hope.
This 50-minute, two-person performance offers an intimate and universal look at the PD journey. Following the play, audience members are invited to a 20-minute Q&A session.
Seating is limited—reserve your spot early!
