

Brain Support Network and Stanford’s Movement Disorders Center were pleased to present Stanford’s Carla Abdelnour, MD, speaking on “Lewy Body Dementia: Future Directions,” on April 17, 2025. Dr. Abdelnour’s talk focused on recent research findings and future research that may affect treatment of those with LBD. She provided a short overview of Lewy body dementia (LBD), which is an umbrella term that includes Parkinson’s Disease Dementia and Dementia with Lewy Bodies.

This 90-minute webinar was moderated by Linda Higueras with Brain Support Network. Linda’s father had Lewy body dementia (LBD). Linda is a longtime member of the local LBD caregiver support group, coordinated by Brain Support Network. (We invite those living in Northern or Central California to join our LBD caregiver group. We alternate between virtual and in-person support group meetings.)

About the speaker:
Dr. Carla Abdelnour has just completed her post-doctoral research at Stanford, which focused on Lewy body dementia. She has returned to Spain, where she will continue her clinical practice as a dementia and movement disorder specialist.
Dr. Abdelnour was the Sue Berghoff LBD Research fellow at Stanford.
