Stanford-led Parkinson’s Support Group Has Moved to Little House – Second Wednesdays, 2-3:30pm

October 2, 2017 By Parkinson's Community Help

Stanford’s APDA Parkinson’s Information & Referral Center runs a local Parkinson’s  support group in the community. We have moved to Little House in Menlo Park as of September 2017.  These meetings are free and open to the public. We generally have guest speakers.  No RSVP is required.

If you would like to be added to the list to receive a monthly email as to who the guest speaker is, please email Robin Riddle at Stanford.

For over a decade, we’ve been meeting at the Avenidas Senior Center in downtown Palo Alto.  Now that Avenidas has temporarily closed its downtown location for major remodeling, we are happy to be relocated to Little House in Menlo Park.

The meetings are always held on the second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 3:30pm.  Little House is a senior activity center at 800 Middle Avenue in Menlo Park.

If you are coming from El Camino Real and turn on to Middle (where there’s a giant Safeway), you’ll pass Nealon Park on the right.  Beyond the park is a small green/white sign that says “Little House” and “Meals on Wheels.”  Turn right there.  (If you get to University Dr., you’ve gone too far.)

Go to the end of that driveway, beyond tennis courts and a ball field.  Turn right again and you’ll see Little House at the end.  There’s lots of handicapped parking and other parking too.

If you need the exercise, park on Middle Ave., perhaps in front of Nealon Park and cut through the lawn (or find the path).  Or park by the tennis courts and you’ll still get a bit of a walk.

The meeting is held in the Auditorium.  As you enter Little House, you’ll see a long counter in front of you.  Tell the friendly staff there — as you walk by — that you are attending the Parkinson’s group. Turn left at the counter, and you’ll find the Auditorium down the hall on your left.
