On the next episode of “Dr. Gilbert Hosts,” Dr. Gilbert will speak to APDA-funded researchers about their current research projects, along with doctors who are treating patients, to discuss the potential these research projects have to dramatically improve the lives of those living with PD.  Register now for this American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) webinar, taking place on February 14, 9am PT.

If you’re wondering:

  • Will research being done today help me in the near future?
  • Why does it take so long for new treatments to be approved?
  • What are the steps that it takes for a research idea to become a new treatment?

then this is the webinar for you!

About the speakers and topics they will discuss:

Dr. Nicole Bentley is currently conducting research on deep brain stimulation (DBS)  and cognition and Dr. Weintraub is an expert on the cognitive changes associated with PD. Drs Bentley and Weintraub will explore:

  • deep brain stimulation techniques that may improve cognitive symptoms.

Dr. Mohammad Shahnawaz is currently conducting research to develop a blood test for PD and Dr. David Standaert is an expert on the molecular underpinnings of PD. Drs. Shahnawaz and Standaert will explore:

  • a blood test that can diagnose Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Kevin McFarthing, a biochemist who is living with PD, will explain the vital importance of PD research for those living with PD, and talk about his passion project surrounding PD research.

And they are all ready and waiting to answer your questions live during the program!
