Please Participate – Survey of the Financial and Social Impact of PD and Atypical Parkinsonism

May 16, 2025 By Denise Dagan

We invite you to participate in a very important survey, supported in part by the American Parkinson Disease Association, to help researchers better understand the costs associated with Parkinson’s and the impact the disease has on family finances. The survey is open now until June 16.

A Parkinson’s diagnosis doesn’t just affect overall health, it can also lead to increased financial costs for patients and families. Some costs are tangible, such as co-pays for doctor’s visits and medications, but others are more difficult to quantify, such as taking time off work to care for a loved one with the disease.

The survey findings will be shared with lawmakers in order to advocate for public policy changes that can help reduce Parkinson’s expenses, such as increased funding for research and comprehensive access to health care services.

This is a confidential electronic survey and the data will be securely stored and not be distributed beyond the research team. Results of the survey will be made available to the public at a later date, e.g., via a journal manuscript, news articles, etc., but will only include the aggregated results. If you have questions about this survey, please contact apda@apdaparkinson.org.

The survey should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. You can save your progress and return later with the URL provided when you save. The deadline for survey participation is June 16.

Your input is invaluable. Thank you in advance for participating!
