In February 2026, Bianca Palushaj, MD, movement disorder neurologist at Stanford, described three observational gut-brain studies at Stanford that are recruiting participants. The studies welcome those with PD and healthy controls. View her five-minute talk on this research and see relevant links.
Dr. Palushaj was the speaker at the Palo Alto Parkinson’s Support Group virtual meeting in February 2026. Her topic was “Rethinking the Gut in Parkinson’s Disease.” As part of that webinar, she spoke on three observational gut-brain studies at Stanford that are recruiting participants.
Editor’s Note: As shorthand, we’ll refer to these studies as #1 remote EGG (electrogastrogram), #2 NIH consortium, and #3 ingestible capsule.
The January 2026 Stanford Gut-Brain Seminar (view blog post) gave some high-level context about the observational studies. Kathleen Poston, MD, described the NIH consortium. Yasmine Kehnemouyi, PhD, delved into the EGG studies. And Leila Neshatian, MD, described research on ingestible capsules.
