To ensure those in the Parkinson’s community have options to exercise safely during the Covid-19 health crisis, Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach has expanded our lists of live, virtual PD exercise classes and PD exercise videos. There are lots of options for all levels of mobility.
The class options include balance skills, boxing, cardio, cognitive/neuroplasticity training, dance, Delay the Disease, flexibility, interval training, kickboxing, pilates, PWR!, stretch and strengthen, tai chi, yoga, and more.
Even though video-based classes can be tiresome, live virtual exercise classes are great because they are social and interactive. Studies have shown that you are more likely to show up and exercise when someone is expecting you.
Our list of live, virtual PD exercise classes can be found here.
For those who cannot commit to a regular class scheduled, check out our list of PD exercise videos.
The “video list” also includes a few booklets.
Many online classes and exercise videos are free. Others charge a reasonable fee.
We encourage you to pick a few programs you enjoy and rotate using them, so you don’t become bored with your exercise routine.
We encourage care partners to exercise alongside the person with Parkinson’s disease. Both of you will benefit. You know it’s true.
Happy exercising,
Denise
