In early November, the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) hosted a webinar on research in Parkinson’s disease (PD). The webinar featured expert physical therapist for PD Dr. Terry Ellis and movement disorder specialist Dr. Marie Saint-Hilaire. Dr. Saint-Hilaire discussed the role of clinical trials in PD, how to find ongoing trials, and the benefits of participating in a trial. Dr. Ellis reviewed two current exercise trials.

Register Now for “Coping with Caregiving” Workshops for Caregivers to Those with Memory Issues, November 2021 to March 2022
Stanford’s Neuroscience Supportive Care Program is offering nine virtual workshops for caregivers to those dealing with memory issues, regardless of the diagnosis (whether it be Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease Dementia, mild cognitive impairment, vascular dementia, stroke, etc.). The workshops are every first and third Wednesday, 10-11:30am PT. The series began November 3, 2021 and will run through March 2, 2022. Sign up for one or all.

This summer, the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) hosted a webinar on how to be optimistic with Parkinson’s disease (PD), featuring Bill Rasmussen. In the webinar, Bill, diagnosed with PD in 2014, explained how he manages his life with optimism and described how optimism can be contagious with your family members. He shared examples of various exercises and activities that he performs to not let PD get in the way of his life. We at Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach are sharing our notes for this webinar.
