Stanford Specialist to Discuss Fall Prevention Strategies, Palo Alto, April 10

Ellen Corman, manager of Stanford Health Care’s Farewell to Falls program, will be speaking about “Fall Prevention in Parkinson’s, Other Movement Disorders, and For Us All” at the Palo Alto/Menlo Park Parkinson’s Support Group on Wednesday, April 10, from 2:30-4:00pm at Avenidas in Palo Alto. No RSVP is required to attend. Falls are the leading cause of hospitalizations and nursing home rehabilitation stays for those living with Parkinson’s disease. Come learn strategies to prevent falls including the importance of exercise, managing medications and exploring minor home modifications.

Register now for “Stepping On” fall prevention program at Stanford, 7 Thursdays, beginning April 11

Stepping On is an evidence-based program for older adults who have fallen or are at risk of falling. The program looks at falls and fall risks, safe footwear, vision, home and community safety, medication management and bone health. Exercises are introduced in class by a physical therapist and focus on strength and balance. Stepping On meets for 7 sessions for 2-hours each, and starts on Thursday, April 11, 2019.  Read more..
