Recently, ParkinsonTV offered a webinar on apathy in Parkinson’s disease, featuring a panel of speakers including two movement disorder specialists, a person with PD, and her wife, followed by a longer discussion with neurologist Mindy Bixby from Scripps Clinic.  They discussed what apathy means and how it can be confused with depression, as well as some tips and strategies for living with apathy.  We at Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach listened to the webinar and are sharing our notes.  

In late January, the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario offered a webinar on Advanced Therapies for Parkinson’s Disease (PD), featuring speaker Devin Hall, MD. She gave an overview of treatments that sometimes used for later-stage PD, such as Deep Brain Stimulation, apomorphine injections, and levodopa intestinal gel (Duopa), discussing their benefits and drawbacks. We at Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach listened to the webinar and are sharing our notes.  

The Cure Parkinson’s Trust, in the United Kingdom, hosted a panel webinar discussion on Exercise in Parkinson’s disease (PD) on January 8^th, 2020. Panelists discussed why exercise is important in PD, how research suggests it likely affects the brain, and recommendations for those who would like to become more active. We at Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach listened to the webinar and are sharing our notes.
