Good vibrations – Can Parkinson’s symptoms be stopped?

On June 17, 2018, Kanwarjit Bhutani stepped out of an elevator with his wife, unaware his life was about to change. A woman followed the couple from the elevator to the door of their condominium in New York City. Out of the blue, she recommended that Bhutani see Stanford Medicine researcher Peter Tass, MD, PhD, about his promising treatment for Parkinson’s — a vibrating glove.

This is the first of three webinars in a new “Let’s Keep Moving with APDA: Your PD Exercise Toolkit” series by the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).  The speaker is a physical therapist with the APDA National Rehabilitation Resource Center for Parkinson’s Disease (PD).  The focus of the Thursday, October 28th webinar are the basic elements of an effective PD exercise program, whether you’re exercising at home, in the gym, or on the go.

“Sleep Matters: A Review of Sleep Issues in Parkinson’s” – Webinar Notes

In mid-October, the American Parkinson Disease Association’s Massachusetts chapter (APDA MA) hosted a webinar on sleep issues in Parkinson’s disease (PD).  The webinar featured movement disorder specialist Dr. Okeanis Vaou who described common sleep disorders in PD and how to treat them.  Sleep disorders are present in about 66-99% of people with PD.
