The webinar “YOPD Women, Diagnosis, and Symptoms” was presented by the YOPD Women Council at the Davis Phinney Foundation.  YOPD is Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease, where Parkinson’s is diagnosed earlier in life.  This was the first in a new webinar series for YOPD women, to be held the first Wednesday of every month. The panelists spoke of their experience with Parkinson’s, how they came to be diagnosed, unique symptoms they’ve had, and recommendations for how women can advocate for themselves. 

The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s hosted neurologist Christopher Goetz, MD in a webinar about “Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis: The What, When, Why and How.”  Though the webinar was back in August 2020, we at Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach listened to the webinar and are sharing our notes. 

On November 12th the Davis Phinney Foundation hosted a webinar on Mental Wellness for Parkinson’s Care Partners.  The speaker was social worker Elaine Book who touched briefly on several aspects of caregiver wellbeing with Davis Phinney Foundation moderator, Melanie Dizon.  Topics broached included ambiguous loss, stress reduction tips to prevent caregiver burnout, communicating about changes brought about by Parkinson’s, self-care during COVID, and more.
