Melanie Lising, MD, movement disorder specialist, Stanford, will be discussing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery, past, present and future at the UCSF DBS support group. The program is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about DBS (whether or not they are seen at UCSF). An RSVP is not required for this meeting.

Kathleen Poston, MD, a movement disorder specialist at Stanford, will be talking about “Mind, Memory, & Mood” at the Menlo Park Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Wednesday, October 11th, 2-3:30pm, at Little House. She will provide an overview of the cognitive domains, and indicate which are problematic in Parkinson’s. Dr. Poston will define “dementia” in the context of Parkinson’s Disease Dementia or Lewy Body Dementia. And she will describe the common mood symptoms in PD. This event is free and open to the public. No need to RSVP.
Stanford Movement Disorder Specialist to talk about Complementary Therapies and Parkinson’s Disease in Palo Alto, October 10
Veronica Santini, MD, MA, a movement disorder specialist at Stanford, will be talking about Complementary Therapies and Parkinson’s disease at the Palo Alto Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) support group on Tuesday, October 10, 6:30-8:15pm, in the Board Room at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. The event is free and open to those diagnosed with PD by the age of 50 or younger and their family members. An RSVP 24 hours in advance is requested by the group leader, Martha Gardner.
