Stanford Movement Disorder Specialist to Discuss Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) at DBS Support Group, San Francisco, March 8, 6:00-8:00pm

Melanie Lising, MD, movement disorder specialist, Stanford, will be discussing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery, past, present and future at the UCSF DBS support group. The program is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about DBS (whether or not they are seen at UCSF). An RSVP is not required for this meeting.

Movement Disorder Specialist Speaking at Parkinson’s Support Group, Little House (Menlo Park), Wednesday, January 10th, 2-3:30pm

Salima Brillman, MD, movement disorder specialist, will be speaking at the Stanford-run Parkinson’s support group at Little House in Menlo Park on Wednesday, January 10th, from 2 to 3:30pm. Her topics are current Parkinson’s medication and an overview of what’s in the treatment pipeline.  The meeting is free and open to the public.  No RSVP is required.

Stanford Movement Disorder Specialist to talk about “Mind, Memory, and Mood” in Menlo Park, October 11

Kathleen Poston, MD, a movement disorder specialist at Stanford, will be talking about “Mind, Memory, & Mood” at the Menlo Park Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Wednesday, October 11th, 2-3:30pm, at Little House.  She will provide an overview of the cognitive domains, and indicate which are problematic in Parkinson’s.  Dr. Poston will define “dementia” in the context of Parkinson’s Disease Dementia or Lewy Body Dementia.  And she will describe the common mood symptoms in PD.  This event is free and open to the public. No need to RSVP.
