PNT: 25% of Parkinson’s Patients Fall in First Year — a Surprising Finding

It’s widely recognized that falling poses a significant risk for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD), but most scientists thought patients tended to fall in later stages of the disease. Researchers in Norway have found that 25 percent of Parkinson’s patients fell in the first year of their diagnosis.

Dance for Parkinson’s Classes at Stanford Neuroscience Health Center, Now Two Days a Week

The Dance for Parkinson’s class at Stanford now meets two days a week – Mondays and Fridays, 1:30pm-2:45pm. Dancing in chairs, at a barre, or standing, experienced teaching artists lead participants in an enjoyable blend of modern dance, ballet, and social dancing.  The classes are free but require advance registration due to popularity. … Full Story>

Stanford Movement Disorder Specialist to talk about urination and constipation issues in San Jose, February 3

text_image_5.img.full.highVeronica Santini, MD, a movement disorder specialist at Stanford, will be talking about urination and constipation issues in Parkinson’s at the San Jose Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Friday, February 3rd, 10am-noon, in Willow Glen.  The meeting is held at the St. Francis Episcopal Church, 1205 Pine Ave. Usually the meetings begin with some announcements such that the speaker starts at 10:20am.  This event is free and open to the public.  No need to RSVP.
