The Dance for Parkinson’s class at Stanford now meets two days a week – Mondays and Fridays, 1:30pm-2:45pm. Dancing in chairs, at a barre, or standing, experienced teaching artists lead participants in an enjoyable blend of modern dance, ballet, and social dancing. Kathleen Poston, MD, a movement disorder specialist at Stanford, will be talking about “Mind, Memory, & Mood” at the Palo Alto Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Wednesday, November 9th, 2-3:30pm, at Avenidas. She will provide an overview of the cognitive domains, and indicate which are problematic in Parkinson’s. Dr. Poston will define “dementia” in the context of Parkinson’s Disease Dementia or Lewy Body Dementia. And she will describe the common mood symptoms in PD. “Women and PD: What’s New?” symposium scheduled for Saturday, October 29th 10:45am-3:00pm, Redwood City

This exciting educational symposium will include lectures and panels on the latest information and research important to women living with Parkinson’s. Presented by Parkinson’s Women Support, the program includes top-level researchers and clinicians. This symposium will be presented at the Redwood Shores Library in Redwood City. The program requires pre-registration and includes an option to purchase a boxed lunch. Tickets will not be available at the event.
