“Your Head in the Clouds: Brain Fog with Parkinson’s Disease” – Webinar Notes

The Parkinson Society of British Columbia hosted a webinar in mid-September on brain fog in PD. Brain fog has been described as “fuzzy thinking” and “being unable to feel sharp in one’s thoughts.”  The speaker addressed the symptoms behind brain fog and how to promote brain health and wellness.

“Work, Money, Meaning, and Parkinson’s” – Webinar Notes

The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s presented a webinar this summer on “Work, Money, Meaning, and Parkinson’s” as part of their Young Onset Parkinson’s Council webinar series.  Seven people diagnosed with YOPD participated.  Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach attended the webinar and are sharing our notes.

The Intestinal Microbiome in Health and Disease (including PD) – Webinar notes

The Houston Area Parkinson Society (HAPS) presented a webinar this summer on “The Intestinal Microbiome in Health and Disease.”  The speaker was Herbert DuPont, MD, a professor of infectious diseases at the University of Texas School of Public Health.  Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach attended the webinar and are sharing our notes.

Latest Developments in DBS Surgery and Future Enhancements – Webinar notes

On September 17th the Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach presented a webinar on deep brain stimulation (DBS).  Jaimie Henderson, MD, Stanford Neurosurgery, discussed the Latest Developments in DBS Surgery as well as future enhancements.  Dr. Henderson spoke for about 50 minutes about how patients are prepared for DBS surgery, what patients can expect, and the DBS systems available.  Then, he answered questions for about a half hour.

Stanford movement disorder specialist to speak on closed loop deep brain stimulation at San Jose PD virtual support group meeting, October 2, 10am

September 30, 2020 By Parkinson's Community Help

As part of the San Jose Parkinson’s virtual support group meeting on Friday, October 2, Stanford Movement Disorders Center director Helen Bronte-Stewart, MD, will speak on “Entering the Era of Closed Loop DBS for Parkinson’s Disease.”  Then a panel of those with have had DBS will share their experiences.  The meeting will be presented via video.  No registration required.
