The Parkinson’s Foundation announced that Stanford is one of four new Centers of Excellence. Kathleen L. Poston, MD, MS, Chief of Movement Disorders for Stanford University said, “Through patient care, education and research, our providers and staff embrace the Foundation’s mission to make life better for people with Parkinson’s disease.” The number of people living with Parkinson’s in the U.S. is expected to rise to 1.2 million by 2030. A central priority of the Foundation is to ensure that all people with PD can obtain the care and support they need to improve their health and quality of life.

Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach is hosting a virtual “Connecting Through Art” (CTA) session for the local Bay Area Parkinson’s community on Friday, August 25, starting at 11am. The 90-minute program is open to those with Parkinson’s and care partners. This CTA program is free but advance registration is required as attendance is limited. No artistic abilities are required. And no fancy equipment is needed. The facilitator is art therapist Christine Hirabayashi, PhD. This program is sponsored by the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).
