“Exercise Can Be a Boon to People” with PD

January 25, 2017 By Parkinson's Community Help

24BRODY-master768Here’s an interesting article in today’s New York Times about the value of exercise for those with Parkinson’s.

I don’t think there’s any solid evidence that exercise slows the progression of Parkinson’s, but of course exercise has a host of benefits – physical and mental.   Every physician I know “prescribes” exercise for their PD patients.

Here’s a link to the NYT article: www.nytimes.com/2017/01/23/well/exercise-can-be-a-boon-to-people-with-parkinsons-disease.html

Find our list of Parkinson’s-specific exercise classes in Northern California here: parkinsons.stanford.edu/exercise.html

(If you know of a class we haven’t listed, let me know.)

If your family member can’t leave your home, consider Parkinson’s-specific exercise videos.  You can find our list here: parkinsons.stanford.edu/exercise_videos.html

(If you know of a PD-focused video we haven’t listed, let me know.)
