“Stand Up to Parkinson’s:  Prevent Falls”

Program: Falls are a leading cause of injury and can result in hospitalization or loss of independence. Falls can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime but having Parkinson’s will increase your risk of falls. Prevention and planning can reduce your risk for falls and there are things you can do to keep yourself safe. This webinar will focus on how to identify some of the causes of falls and suggest simple, practical changes and suggestions to keep you active, independent and on your feet.

“Nursing Solutions: Non-Pharmacologic Complementary and Alternative Practices in PD: Quality of Life Impact and Patient Practices”

Program: Many people with Parkinson’s disease will have a disease span over decades of life. It is not surprising, then, that patients and families often seek complementary and alternative approaches to supplement traditional medical and surgical interventions. This webinar will present a review of the research on quality of life as it relates to the use of non-pharmacological approaches in Parkinson’s disease. Additionally, it will discuss research on what actual patient practices are being used, and review factors that may influence the use of complementary and alternative treatment approaches.
