The Stanford Health Library is hosting an in-person film screening and discussion about “Boys of Summer: Short Stop,” directed by Robert David Cochrane, on Tuesday, February 10, 5:30pm.  The movie, released in 2020, follows Dan Cochrane, diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in 2001, his son Robert, and Robert’s son Giuseppe in their summer travels.  The film captures Dan’s community reach expanding while PD is closing in.  If you haven’t seen the film or heard Robert speak in loving terms about his father, this is your chance!  The conversation is sure to be full of laughter. 

Join our Palo Alto Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2:30pm, as we host Dr. Bianca Palushaj, Stanford movement disorder specialist.  Her topic is “Rethinking the Gut in Parkinson’s Disease.”  Dr. Palushaj will give an overview of the microbiome.  She will discuss what she and Stanford colleagues have learned in their research of those with PD and healthy household members.  If you live in Northern or Central California, we welcome you. 

World-renowned Parkinson’s disease expert Dr. Ray Dorsey is on a national book tour, sharing the science, stories, and urgency behind “The Parkinson’s Plan,” his new bestseller.  Luckily, we have lined him up for two events on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in our local area — Belmont Library (10:10am) and Little House in Menlo Park (2:30pm).  Dr. Dorsey will detail some of the 25 steps necessary to lower your risk of developing Parkinson’s and, if you have PD, slowing decline.  He will be in conversation with Stanford’s APDA Information & Referral Center Coordinator Robin Riddle.  Read more about Dr. Dorsey’s talk and join us!
