Join Stanford’s Parkinson’s Community Outreach team at the newly-opened Peninsula Parkinson’s Place, a great new space for exercise and connections!  RSVP by September 16.  This event features well-known Rock Steady Boxing coach Freddy Silva and PD exercise coach Dante Kirkman for demonstrations of various exercise types (adaptive yoga, dance, tai chi, and RSB).  Plus Stanford movement disorder specialist Dr. Pegah Kahali will address “Gait and Cognition in PD.” Visit the Stanford PD resource table.

Move with Mime Over Mind: Using Mime Techniques to Support Movement in Parkinson’s Disease

Mime over Mind is a program that applies classic mime training techniques to help people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) work through specific movement challenges, from picking up a glass of water to getting dressed. Developed by Barbara Salsberg Mathews, the program builds on the “Six Principles of PD Mime,” originally developed by mime artist Rob Mermin, and uses simple mime concepts to help retrain everyday movement.

Advocating for Accessible Community Spaces

The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) and Access Coalition are co-hosting a webinar on making community spaces more accessible and welcoming for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and others with disabilities.  Learn about learn about Access Coalition’s new resources for inclusive design.  And hear from a panel about how accessible design can support independence.  The speakers will share tips for ways people with PD can use their personal experiences and stories to advocate for positive changes in their communities and public spaces.

Moving through Parkinson’s: Does Intensity and Dose Matter? – Webinar Notes

In July 2026, the Parkinson’s Foundation hosted a webinar titled “Moving through Parkinson’s: Does Intensity and Dose Matter?” The session featured Jimmy Choi, 2017 American Ninja Warrior and Parkinson’s advocate who has lived with young-onset Parkinson’s disease for more than two decades, and Daniel Corcos, PhD, Northwestern University professor of physical therapy. They discussed what research says about the type, amount, and intensity of exercise for Parkinson’s, as well as how care teams can help people build exercise into a lasting routine.
