Onset of Skin, Gut, and Genitourinary Prodromal Parkinson’s Disease: A Study of 1.5 Million Veterans

This interesting new research of 300,000 people with PD and 1.2 million matched controls explored prodromal Parkinson’s disease by studying the skin, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal issues reported.  The researchers say that studying these systems “offers a unique window for understanding early disease pathogenesis and developing disease modifying treatments.”

NYT: What It Feels Like to Live With Parkinson’s

Steven Heller, 70, has lived with Parkinson’s for more than 10 years. Véronique Vienne, 79, only recently learned that she had the disease. Both have had long careers as art directors, and the two have been friends for more than three decades. Back in March, the pair exchanged a flurry of emails over a 10-day period, where they explored the “before” and “after” of a Parkinson’s diagnosis.
